Permanent Residency (PR) Pathways to Australia

1. Skilled Migration Visas

a) Subclass 189: Skilled Independent Visa

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age under 45 years.
  • A positive skills assessment for an occupation listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
  • Meet the minimum points requirement (based on age, education, work experience, language proficiency, etc.).
  • Proficiency in English (minimum IELTS score of 6 or equivalent).


a) Subclass 190: Skilled Nominated Visa

This is a state-sponsored visa that requires nomination by an Australian state or territory government.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • The occupation must be on the state’s skilled occupation list.
  • A state or territory nomination.
  • Meet the minimum point requirement.
  • Commitment to living and working in the nominating state or territory for at least two years.


b) Subclass 491: Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa

A temporary visa leading to PR, designed for skilled workers willing to live and work in regional areas.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nomination by a state or territory government or sponsorship by an eligible family member residing in a designated regional area.
  • Occupation listed on the regional skills list.
  • Proficiency in English.


c) Subclass 482: Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa

While temporary, this visa can lead to PR through employer nomination.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Occupation listed on the short-term or medium-term skills list.
  • Employer sponsorship


2. Business and Investor Visas

a) Subclass 188: Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) Visa
